French Quarter Mommy & Me Photography Session

“I love you forever. I’ll like you for always.

As long as I’m living, my baby you’ll be.”

Robert Munsch is one of my favorite children’s authors. Some of my fondest memories of being a kid revolve around bed time stories that my mom or grandmother would read to me. Strike that, they wouldn’t just read to me, they would transport me to a different place. We would go on an adventure together, they’d use different voices for different characters, animals would roar off of the pages, and they would make it interactive, as if I were living there.

New Orleans is a great city for love, all kinds of love! I’m here to capture it.

After seeing her images Kamica said “Wow! These turned out so much better than I imagined!” This is because little ones are hard! With adults, there is instant feedback. Babies, you can’t make them anything. Photographing adults is easy, babies are hard.

Tips For Photographing Babies in the Big Easy:

-Stick to one location.

-Don’t force it, change it. If the babe starts to fuss, give them a minute, or move on! If they get really upset, it’s over.

-Not everything needs a pose. Let them play a bit! Try a tickle or a toss.

-Don’t be afraid to make some really weird sounds and be very silly to capture their attention. Bring a toy that makes noise and/or have them bring a favorite toy.

-Make sure the adults know to look at the lens and let you get the little’s attention.

-Plan the photoshoot around when the baby is usually in the best mood! (Mornings are a good bet.)

-Keep it short!
