15 years after their wedding, LaQuita and Edward Quinn renewed their vows on a gorgeous silver day in New Orleans. It was Monday, 9/9/19, a day ripe for love.Read More
I had the pleasure of meeting Lydia and Edward on a lovely spring day in the French Quarter. It’s not every day I get to photograph anniversaries, so this certainly was a treat! These two New Orleans natives wanted something to commemorate their last 5 years together, and I was happy to be a part of it. We walked and talked and were able to share some nerdy humor along the way!
We strolled down Royal St, stopping to snap photos by shotgun houses that accentuated Lydia’s dress; popped across the cobblestone in Pirate’s Alley; and sat beneath the shade of sprawling oak trees, soaking in what never seems to fade in this magical town.
I enjoyed our brief adventure through the city streets, and we all were pleased with the photo-ops that cropped up!
There were only a few moments where they seemed unsure about being in front of a camera, but with some reassurance, I was able to ease their discomfort. This is one part of being a photographer that I love -- and a crucial part that is often overlooked by both photographers and their subjects. It’s so important to me to allow you the space to feel free and comfy, to playfully suggest how best to tilt your head or where your hands should fall. Making this a fun and pleasant experience is my always first priority. That’s what I’m here for!
We went further through the French Quarter, getting to know each other a little more...
And then, to my surprise, Lydia and Edward shared with me something they hadn’t yet shared with almost anyone-- they were pregnant! I was so excited for them it was almost embarrassing!
I was delighted and privileged to hear such personal news! It’s moments like these when being a photographer feels amazing-- when the people you’re working with trust you enough to be vulnerable and share such intimate, beautiful moments.
